Because of Thanksgiving, life has been a little all over the place. I have had a few days off of school, we have gotten together with family and friends, and Avery has an ear infection to go along with her top teeth that are coming in. So, needless to say, although I enjoy the down time, I am also ready to get back to a regular schedule. I missed a few runs and ate too much. Its good to take some down time, but I’m feeling kind of blahhh.
Here are some things that have been happening lately:
The weather has continued to be fantastic! We have had weather in the 50s with a lot of sunshine. So, I have tried to get outside as much as possible for runs and walks with my favorite girl.I am not looking forward to winter running weather. Maybe I can convince my husband to fly south for the winter.
2. I have done a few at home workouts. Before I had Avery, I would workout at home all the time. Now, when I get a chance to sit down at home, it is usually with a glass of wine in my had and sweatpants on! The workout above was a version of a 1000 repetition set. I did 10 rounds of 10 reps of the following:
pushups (went to my knees after the 5th round)
plank thrusts (right)
plie squat jumps
plank thrusts (left)
dumbell swing with a squatThis was my attempt at showing you that I was a sweaty mess afterwards…fail. I love doing 1000 rep sets. They are quick, effective total body workouts. I try to mix plyometric moves, with upper body and core work. It is a killer every time!
3. I got in two key treadmill runs. The first was 5 x 1 mile at 7:40 pace with one minute rest. I thought that this was going to be hard, but it really wasn’t. I did a half mile warm up and cool down for a total of 6 miles. I didn’t take my phone into the gym because sometimes I forget that I’m supposed to take pictures of this stuff..ha.The second was an interval run. I did 2:30 at 8:35 pace alternated with 2:30 at 7:30 pace. This was comfortably difficult. I pushed it a little at the end to get 5 miles in under 40 minutes. I also completed a quick warm up and cool down for a total of six miles. Even though I know that I am making progress, I still get a little sick to my stomach thinking that I am going to have to run 26.2 miles at about this pace next year….eekkk!
4. TJMaxx is great for fitness apparel. I always forget about TJMaxx when I want to buy new workout gear, but they really do have some good stuff. I got these socks there the other day and now I wish I would have gotten a few packs. They have just the right amount of cushioning in the toe and heel. Maybe if I wore these more often I wouldn’t have to paint over my black toenails all the time. Cute, I know. I’ll spare you the picture of that!
5. Totally unrelated to fitness, but I’m not sure why we buy expensive toys for Avery. She clearly likes the simple stuff.A basket, a bucket, and my school ID have been keeping her quite occupied lately. Silly girl. Maybe Santa can save some money this year and wrap some empty boxes?? We shall see.
Here’s to a great week back. Hope you are all recovered from your food comas!
